She recently stepped down as Academic Director of the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Research Institute. She is a Consultant Neurologist at the National Neuroscience Centre, where she is Director of the National Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Clinic and the Irish ALS Research Group, and is about to take up her new role as Clinical Lead for Neurology in the HSE. Prof. Hardiman’s primary research interests are the genomics, epidemiology, and disease phenotyping of ALS. Her research aims to elucidate the mechanisms of disease heterogeneity, with a particular focus on identifying new target genes and drug targets for patient treatment.
