posted on 2019-11-22, 16:13 authored by Mary O'DohertyEdward Dillon Mapother had an impressive career as surgeon, dermatologist, author, professor and President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and first Medical Officer of health for Dublin in 1864. Considered an authority on eczema, gout and the curative powers of spa waters, Mapother returned to the full-time practice of dermatology, moving to London in 1888. He died at his London home on the 3rd of March 1908.
