Dan Wu

Research Lecturer of Chemistry (Chemical sciences)

Dublin, Ireland

The central theme of my research based on the advancement of new strategies for the synthesis and functional assessment of structurally complex molecules and focuses on the development of chemoselective reactions for addressing problems in bottom-up synthetic biology and molecular imaging. Bioconjugation chemistries are some of the most important and commonly used tools in chemical biology. My specific goals include the development of NIR fluorophores with bioconjugation toolkits for imaging, fluorescence guided surgery, new light activated anti-cancer agents, drug delivery, and the generation of chemical tools to assist in gaining a molecular level insight into biological processes by biomolecular labelling. In addition, my recently research on vaping pyrolysis chemistry reveals the urgent action required on investigating the toxicant produced from e-liquid. My research has its foundations in organic chemistry and chemical biology with strong collaborative links with pharmacology.
