Muirne Spooner

Muirne Spooner is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medicine and the Academic Director of Admissions for RCSI. She has worked in undergraduate and postgraduate health professions education for almost twenty years. She has been awarded local teaching awards, as voted by students, a record number of times. She has also won two national Teaching Hero awards. Her research interests include assessment and feedback, interprofessional learning, culture and internationalisation. Her PhD focussed on socio-cultural aspects of how undergraduate medical students use and respond to feedback, and was shortlisted for the AMEE Doctoral Report Award. She is a member of the AMEE Research Committee, an educational consultant for the European Board of Interventional Radiology, and assessment expert for the CESMA General Surgery Examination Board. She is a trainer for the RCPI Irish Clinical Educator Track (ICET) programme. She is a board member and convenor for the MRCPI Clinical GIM examination. She works clinically as a senior physician in Vhi Hospital at Home community-based early discharge services.
